Introduce Yourself to Our Audience:

Hello! My name is Jonathen Whitford!  Software engineer by day, Performer by night!

What is your favorite song to sing in the show and why?

My favorite song is probably a toss up between “Christmas Together” and “Nothing To Do With Me”; I appreciate the dichotomy of personality and the extremes the character feels at both beginning and end.

What is the most rewarding part of being part of such a large ensemble cast?

The most rewarding part of being in an ensemble is being part of something more than yourself. It’s both a shield and sword in that you’re not so naked on stage in your performances because you’re with a group of people all experiencing the same thing.

How does the energy of the audience impact your performance?

The audience’s energy is a driving force behind every performance. There’s a thrilling exchange happening, while the patrons are eager to see what the show has in store, we, as actors, are equally nervous and excited about the crowd we will encounter. A lively, enthusiastic audience can push the entire cast to new heights fueling a performance filled with joy and electricity. On the other hand, a quieter audience might leave us questioning and seeking those moments of connection.

What sort of person is going to love this show?

Truly I think this show will be a spectacular experience for people of all ages, hopefully inspiring and inviting a wonderful Christmas spirit to everyone who attends….especially grumpy uncles!

Lynn Ahrens and Mike Ockrent’s snappy book makes us laugh while the catchy songs (Ahrens also wrote the lyrics) leave us tapping our feet; together, the music and movement contains an irrepressible happiness.” – Arifa Akbar, The Guardian

Although this is a Christmas show, it does have universal themes that may resonate with people of all faiths. The story reminds us of all the poor and lonely people who need help to survive. It brings up continuing battles for compassion and equality, that are as evident today as they were in 1844 London.”Jennifer Goldman, Daily Democrat
