Introduce Yourself to Our Audience:
Hello! I’m Annika!
Why did you want to be involved in this production?
Cabaret holds an important mirror up to society and I think it’s time for us to reflect on who we really are in this story.
How do you prepare for a new role or character, and what techniques do you use?
I take traits from the context of the show and fill in the gaps with what makes sense to me.
What do you love about your character?
I love that Helga is the baby.
What challenges did you face bringing the script to life?
I feel as a Kit Kat girl, I don’t carry a lot of the weight of the show because I am the distraction from the “politics” of it all.
Who do you look up to (as an actor/director/etc.)?
I don’t tend to idolize people, but I love Bernadette Peters.
What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?
The last thing I do before curtain is check my costume and makeup in the mirror.
What is your favorite film or theater production and why?
I love “Chicago” because it was the first musical I obsessed over.
Cabaret opens July 19th and runs through August 4th at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
“A stunning musical… this marionette’s-eye view of a time and place in our lives that was brassy, wanton, carefree and doomed to crumble is brilliantly conceived.”– Walter Kerr, The New York Times
“Stunning… a masterpiece of musical theater penned as a cautionary tale and not at all leavened by the embrace of paradox.” – Chris Jones, The Chicago Tribune
