Introduce Yourself to Our Audience:
Hallo! I’m Ginamarie. I love my 4 dogs, flamingos, concerts, bingo, and pizza.
Why did you want to be involved in this production?
This show is so unique and rarely done so I wanted to be a part of something that I might not see come around again! Plus I had such a great experience being a part of the Drowsy Chaperone last year and I really wanted to be involved with CTC again.
How do you prepare for a new role or character, and what techniques do you use?
Practice, practice, practice. I consistently listen to the soundtrack, review the sheet music and the script, and practice the dances at home.
What do you love about your character?
As an ensemble member, I get to play multiple parts throughout the show and I love the variety of characters.
What challenges did you face bringing the script to life?
Who do you look up to (as an actor/director/etc.)?
I’ve always admired Lucille Ball. She has impeccable comedic timing and makes her performances seem so effortless. But I also admire and appreciate her as a pioneer of women in entertainment.
What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?
Drink water, stretch, take a puff of my inhaler, and say a prayer.
What is your favorite film or theater production and why?
That’s such a difficult question because there are so many wonderful shows! But Hairspray will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s one of the first shows I saw on Broadway and helped foster my love of theatre!
Nine opens May 17th and runs through June 2nd at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
