Spotlight On: Paul Kornman

 

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast and crew of The Drowsy Chaperone. Get to know Paul Kornman who is portraying Underling!

 

 

 

Introduce Yourself to Our Audience:

My name is Paul Kornman, and I’m playing the butler, Underling. This is my third show with CTC.

 

What is challenging about bringing this script to life?

Aside from the contractually mandated changes, for me, it’s the dancing. My cold feets are just an accident waiting to happen.

 

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

This is one of my favorite shows, and I prefer the more comedic plays and roles. One of my other hobbies relates mostly to nostalgia for another cultural form of the roughly the same period (radio in the 30s and 40s), so I am particularly drawn to the story and themes of this play.

 

Who is the show is most like their character?

Although I have seen Susan stumble along and have seen Janet surprised and Fred/Ralph spell out his name for me, I would have to say that when I see Seth sit, it’s like they were born to be in a chair.

 

What’s going to surprise people about this show?

How funny and sweet it is.

 

What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?

“How does that guy stand being spit on, show after show?”
