Connecticut Theatre Company Production of “Rent” Opens on June 20
Connecticut Theatre Company, in residence at the historic Repertory Theatre of New Britain is about to open its production of the hit musical “Rent” on June 20. “Rent”, based loosely upon Puccini’s “La Boheme” explores the struggles of bohemian artists living in the East Village of New York City. The Pulitzer Prize winning musical debuted on Broadway in 1996 and won critical acclaim for its poignant portrayal of people living with HIV and AIDS.
“Rent” stars actors and actresses from New Britain, Bristol, Hartford and the surrounding areas. Connecticut Theatre Company’s executive director, Duane Campbell, states “We have gathered some really fantastic local talent and are excited to bring the show, a favorite of young theatergoers, to New Britain.”
The cast includes Tiernan Shea (Meriden), Zachary Cote as Angel (Bristol), Jayson Beaulieu (Bristol), Sarah Nicastro (Bristol), Jim Sargent as Mark (Hartford), Khadija Ansari as Mimi (Hartford), Kate Brophy as Maureen (Hartford), Devin Cohen as Collins ( Manchester), Richard Damaso as Benny (New Milford), Jasmine Kehrhahn as Joanne (Cobalt), Corey Trowbridge as Roger (Southbury), Lauren Hyne (Bloomfield), Andrew Colburn (Simsbury), Henry Tobelman (Killingworth), Jessica Bartolotta (Cromwell), Erin Campbell (New Haven), Ricky J. Duarte (New Haven), Sarah Boilard (New Britain) and Olivia Dickey (New Britain).
“Rent” opens on June 20 and will run for three weekends, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 3:00 p.m., before it’s closing on July 6, at The Repertory Theatre on 23 Norden Street in New Britain, CT.
