Memphis the Musical is Coming to New Britain
Connecticut Theatre Company is opening the four-time Tony award winning musical Memphis on July 26th. The show takes place in the underground clubs and radio stations of Memphis in the segregated 1950’s. A young white DJ, Huey Calhoun falls in love with the music and beauty of the dynamic black singer, Felicia Farrell. This story, inspired by actual events, tells of the cultural revolution that erupted during the birth of rock and roll.
Memphis is a soulful musical with amazing songs written by David Bryan, founding member of Bon Jovi. Entertaining dance numbers and soaring emotion brings the 50’s to life on stage! Erin Campbell, the director of the show, has worked with the cast of over twenty local actors and actresses to bring this show to life!
The cast includes actors from all over Connecticut, including: Bristol, Bloomfield, Deep River, Ellington, Plainville, Meriden, Salem, Simsbury, Waterbury, and West Hartford.
Memphis runs July 26th to August 18th with performances at 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2pm on Sundays. There is no Sunday matinee on July 28th. Coming up next for Connecticut Theatre Company is the family-friendly classic musical, Meet Me In St. Louis.
